Menorca is an island divided east and west by it's principal towns: Mahon (the capital) in the east and Ciutadella (the old capital) in the west.

A trunk road, the ME-1, runs between the two, passing through other major towns on a journey that lasts approximately 45 minutes end-to-end by car. The major holiday resorts are dotted around the coast and journey times from the airport will vary depending on road access.
